RIVER SEVERN
and the
SHARPNESS CANAL
The River is navigable by narrow boats from Stourport to Sharpness, via the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. There are six locks on the river navigation all with weirs. With the closure of the Stourport power station you are unlikely to meet any large river craft before Diglis Basin,  below Worcester. The River is fast flowing and care should be taken as you pass the wiers at the approach to locks, all locks are manned, and electrically operated.
ENTRANCE TO THE STAFFORDSHIRE & WORCESTERSHIRE CANAL AT STOURPORT
The Severn has many riverside pubs with good views, this one is at Shrawley.
The Lenchford Inn, it has a good restaurant and as you can see from the photo plenty of moorings.
VIEW FROM THE LENCHFORD INN
Just below Bevere Lock is the Grimley Inn, my wife is not to keen on this pub but I enjoy it, it's a fishermans type of pub, good beer and good wholesome grub, I can recommend their cheese and ham rolls, good value.
There is mooring, but only for about four narrow boats, you could walk down from the moorings shown on this photo, it's only about 50 yards.
BEVERE LOCK.
River Severn maintenance depot just above Diglis Locks. as you can see there is plenty of craft at this depot. This is situated just below the entrance to the Worcester & Birmingham canal, would suggest that the canal basin would be a better place to moor than the river if you wish to visit the city, which is worth visting.
DIGLIS MAINTENANCE DEPOT WORCESTER.
These pleasure boats operate above the bridge at Stourport on the Severn, they are above normal river navigations and pose no problems for narrow boats on the river or exiting from the canal.
This large boat will go to the beggining of the navigable river at Gladder Brook, about half a mile from this pontoon.
STOURPORT MARINA.

This marina is a little way below Stourport, and before the first lock. As you can see it is mainly occupied by river cruisers.

GLOUCESTER DOCKS.
The marina at the docks is set behind the old grain warehouses, these are now used as a mixture of office, retail leisure and residential use.
These docks are the last complete inland Victorian port in Britain.
TALL SHIPS AT GLOUCESTER.
The docks are popular with film companies as loction shoots for period dramas. Filming in the docks has included, the TV series
'The Onedin Line'
and 'Martin Chuzzelwit'.
SHARPNESS DOCKS.
The docks are still a commercial port, with sea going ships unloading, mainly timber can be seen here.
From here to the Bristol Avon, under the Severn road bridges, will require the aid of a pilot.
