RIVER ARUN AND THE RIVER WEY
The rivers Arun, and Wey, used to be joined by the Wey and Arun Canal, efforts are in hand to try and restore this link between the River Thames and the Solent.
Because of this I am going to join them on this page.
The Arun starts at Littlehampton on the South Coast.  It joined the Wey and Arun Canal at Pallingham, for small craft it still navigable this far.
The Wey ends at Weybridge on the River Thames. The Basingstoke Canal is a branch from the Wey at West Byfleet.

The castle is in the background, this is the home of the Duke of Norfolk
A VIEW FROM THE BLACK RABBIT.
This was an old bargemans pub long ago. it is a walk from the town of Arundel, situted below a wooded  chalk cliff.
FIRST LOCK ON THE ARUN & WEY.
This is the closeset we have to a working flash lock,
it is used when the River Thames is at a different level to the Wey.
COXES MILL
Coxes mill used to grind grain, now it is converted to waterside appartments. Just out of photo to the left is Coxes Lock. This is about a mile from the start of the canal. The majority of the craft that use this waterway are river cruisers.
