WARWICKSHIRE AVON
The River Avon is navagable from Alveston Weir, about three miles above Clopton Bridge, there are moorings at the old bathing Place above the bridge, this is useful to know at busy times.
For most boaters the moorings opposite the Memorial Theatre are possibly the most desirable.
From Stratford to Tewkesbury is about onehundred & fifteen miles. The navigation is divided into upper and lower, both are operated by Charitable Trusts, mooring is scarce, you should plan your journey on this river and be aware that it is a river navigation and it needs the care that all rivers demand.
The town of Stratford is possibly the most visited place in the whole of Britain after London. It is geared up for visitors who come at everytime of the year.
The popular attractions for holiday makers are those of the Shakespeare trail, for the boaters these are best seen by taking the sight seeing buses which can be found opposite the basin.

BIDFORD UPON AVON
The bridge at Bidford-on-Avon was built in 1482 by the Monks of Alcester, it has irregular shaped aches, the navigation is through the left hand arch when going down stream. The Church in this photo is St. Lawrence, its foundations go back to 1276.  It is up-stream of the bridge.
Shakespeare was said to have taken part in a drinking contest at the former Falcon Inn. The town has become known as drunken Bidford, probably because of this exploit.
STRATFORD UPON AVON WEIR
The Church is Holy Trinity. Shakespeare's tomb is here.
The weir is popular with canoeists. This photograph is taken from municipal recreation ground, the Butterfly farm is on the far side of the grounds, well worth a visit.
